A little off field, however, was in Mitre 10 the other day, and their steamed pudding bowls were $44 odd, wow, they have gone up in price or what.

100g butter, little bit van ess, 1 cup SR flour, full tabsp golden syrup,1/2 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup milk,Melt sugar and butter in microwave and stir. Then add van ess, eggs, flour and milk. Beat lightlyuntil mixed. Grease steam bowl and put the GS in bottom of bowl. Add the batter mixture, and put the lid on. Place bowl in large sauceoan with boiling water to cover 1.4 way up bowl. Cover pot and boil for about 1 1/4hrs, BUT keep checking the level of the water and top up with boiling water when required.Nice and light pudding. If pudding isn't quite cooked when you are ready to eat it, then put some in a pudding plate and just microwave for 30secs.(mrs)

+1. yum!
Variations. golden syrup, jam, dried fruit, dates, figs, fresh fruit, etc. placed in the bottom of the bowl, batter spread on top and steam as usual.
Add chocolate chips, coconut, nuts, etc.

Cooks in around 7 minutes in a microwave bowl too, on medium high, for one of those night's when you've 'just had dinner and feel like a little something else.' :-)
