Lemon Cake with a pour over syrup

lonicera, Apr 22, 6:03am
I have lost the one I haven't made for years. A moist tangy cake that syrup was poured over at the end. Not a crunchy topping, but a syrup. I know someone can either aim me in the right direction or will have one. Thank you in advance, peoples.

it has been bumped for you.

Have a look at the lemon cake wanted thread I bumped. There's a marmalade & yoghurt cake in the latest foodtown recipe that's nice (except I managed to stuff up the cooking of it, first cake I've ever done that with) - need some more greek yoghurt to try it again.
Actually wondering if the oven is about to die as the centre was runny with uncooked batter (centre of cake)

Here's an easy one, but very moist and lemony.
LEMON MADEIRA CAKE
Cream 225g butter (yes, a lot! ) with 3/4 cup sugar
Add 3 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
Add grated rind of one lemon & 1 Tblsp lemon juice
Add 1 heaped cup self-raising flour
Bake in medium-sized ring tin at 180* for 35 minutes

Remove from oven. While cake is still hot, pour over the juice of one lemon combined with 1/4 cup sugar.

Could be baked in a 20cm square tin.
