Hi. Can anyone recommend a reasonable brand! I currently have lupi. Also does it last forever! Both hubby and i have not found balsamic to our taste as yet and are wondering if we had too much too cheap or what. I am trying annabel langbeins fillet steakwith pomegranate molasses and dont want to ruin it.thanks

There is a huge difference in quality between cheap Balsamic vinegars and the genuine aged ones. The cheap ones are not aged at all but coloured with caramel, and while they do have a sweetish flavour they can be quite unpleasant. The aged ones are beautiful, viscous and aromatic, with a complex flavour that reflects the aging in barrels. You need only a tiny amount - a few drops will make a difference.

So if it is not viscous i could probably bin it! Recipe calls for 1Tbsp balsamic to 1Tbsp molasses. I guess i try it now and if its awful go look for something more expensive tomorrow. actually we have Farro up the rd so i can get something better there. thanks David.
