Melt the best chocolate you can afford.Stir in as much favourite rubbish as possible - Pascalls marshmallows halved, lightly toasted almonds halved or a packet of chocolate almonds, hazelnuts ditto, chopped Fry;s Turkish Delisht, Tasti crystallized ginger, home-made preserved orange peel, a few dried Sunsweet blueberries, a few halved Sun Valley candied cherries, dried apricots (Alison's choice), maybe grated mandarin zest.Press into tin, cover and chill.Cut or smash.

If it's not for Christmas, or it's for fundraising, go for the cheaper ingredients.

I follow Nigella's recipe generally, but omit Brazil Nuts and cherries, and replace with Pistachios and dried Cranberries.Instead of mini marshmallows, Pascalls new mrshmallow Swirls provide other flavours.

I agree, it can be quite an expensive exercise.

I like mine traditional. Marshmellows, peanuts, raspberry lollies. I use a foil tray as it is way easier to take out. I also use 1 pkt of whittikars dark and 1 pkt milk chocolate melted together. Yum.
