Is this the one!
Gently fry a finely chopped onon in 2 Tabsp butter until softened. Add 4 Tabsp water then 3 Tabsp brown sugar, 1 teasp salt, 1/4 teasp dry mustard, 2 teasp made mustard.
Add 2 Tabsp each of Tomato sauce, lemon juice, worcestershire sauce & malt vinegar.
Mix well to remove lumps & cook over a moderate heat until boiling.

Your request just reminded me, Rachael Ray is always raving about her Bourbon BBQ Sauce. But it's probably because I'm not realising I'm watching repeats. Here's the link:

The one I have has 1 cup tomato sauce but no onion:

4 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp curry powder
½ tsp mustard
¾ tsp ginger
2½ Tbsp flour
4 Tbsp vinegar
1 cup tomato sauce
1 cup water

Mix dry ingredients together.Add vinegar and mix until smooth. Add tomato sauce and water and bring to the boil.
