Coleslaw will hold for a few days if you make it ahead, especially if you use home made mayonnaise made with egg yolks and oil.Plain sliced cabbage won't keep nearly as well.

interesting.
I was going to say "cut it, but dont dress it".

also, if you put it into zip lock bags, it is easy to store in the fridge

how much are you making. and do you have a food processor.

cabbage, carrot, onion, purchased dressing.
you can make it in 10 minutes if you are organised.

enjoy your function

I wouldn't dress it until needed sorry.

I used to make 3 plastic bucketfuls for large gatherings. its easy throw everything vegetable except the onions thru the food processor then soak in chiled water up to 4-5 days in advance. drain properly and add your dressing. for a lil extra special throw in crushed pineapple :)

I would never dress ahead of time. Before dressing, throw a grated green apple or two (depending on quantity) in the dressing and then chuck this on - adds a bit of something that keeps people guessing.

I personally wouldn't dress the coleslaw, make the dressing and add on the day. I know my family prefer it "freshly"dressed. We add a little grated cheese to the mix.
