Crockpot - Can you put boiling water in it?

Hi just wondering if you can put boiling water straight into the crockpot to get it moving faster!ie when cooking corned beef.My friend recently found a crack in hers and she uses boiling water without warming crockpot first.

I would think its not a great idea though you could do tap hot water to get it started I do that sometimes. However I also add hot stuff to mine regularly when deglazing the pan after browning the meat.

Yep. I have had a crock pot since 1983 and when I do corned beef, i always boil the jug and pour the boiled water into the bowl, over the meat, then turn it on high.

Water boiling point is 100 degrees C. It doesn't get hotter than that. It will not harm crockpots; especially since alot of them are stoneware.

It is not a good idea to use water from a tap.

Why! Is it because it gives a hotter start!(Not disagreeing, just curious).
