Dusting cakes and sponges

Thought I would hand on this tip. I keep a loose-tea spoon ( one that looks like a double sieve spoon with a spring handle like tongs) in the icing container. So handy when I want to dust rather than ice a cake.

Good tip.I use a mesh tea strainer to save messing up a larger sieve.

lol, I can remember in years gone by making paper circles and cutting pretty designs in them for the tops of sponges before dusting.

I have a mini sieve, especially for cakes. I use various Martha Stewart cake stencils with either icing sugar or cocoa, they look beautiful

Me too,I remember as a child that my Gran used to put a paper doiley on top of a cake before she dusted it with icing sugar.
