I have a box of Roses and Ferrer Rocher which will take me a while to get thru.

If you freeze them, the chocolate will go all white and discoloured. But it will still taste fine.

and if you put them in the fridge, you can hear them shivering - so you have to eat them.It is a duty.

The eighth deadly sin is to let chocolate get so old it is inedible.

Chocolate will not deteriorate and is best left out of the fridge or freezer.

It will sweat in the fridge. Will be fine in a cool pantry - but not so far back that you forget its there.

I have to tell the story of NZ writer Janet Frame and her sister. They boarded with their rather uptight aunt in Dunedin and looked longingly at boxes of chocolates she had won for sports prizes (but never opened) arrayed around the picture rail ledge in the sittingroom.

Unable to contain themselves any longer, they secretly opened them one by one and ate them, putting back their little crinkly cases and propping the boxes back up there.

Of course.sooner rather than later, they were found out.

LOL elliehen - I would have joined them.

As soon as I buy my chocolates, I put them in the freezer (out of sight, out of mind) and they taste yummy cos you can't eat a lot of them while they're frozen.
