What could I substitute for pine nuts in a salad! They are so expensive. Almonds!

Toasted Sunflower and Pumkin seeds are yum. Also you can use toasted sunflower seeds as a replacement for pine nuts in pesto.

that was my thoughts too, but you can buy pinenuts in the 'selfhelp' section and I just buy a few I need instead of the packets which are expensive if you dont use them all and they go stale.

I heard a chef on tv say that restaruants usually use cashews in Pesto as Pinenuts are so expensive. They still have that creamy texture they pinenuts give so they would be fine to use instead of.
