Merry Xmas to you cooks - get some of that cooking sherry to calm you down . not a good sight here on the boards getting all hysteric on the ONE BIG day of the year.

I think it is great if you think you can stand up for yourself - so why don't you!

And since you have no cookware shop (as you said somewhere in some thread) there is no problem is there! No-one will come into your non-existant shop and talk "uli" stuff to you - or even "richard" stuff - or who-ever else you have alienated over the years.

So eat and drink and be merry - I certainly am :)

richard198, Dec 24, 11:20pm
On the contrary; I am calm.
I thought this thread was gone until you dug it up again.
You're entitled to stand up for yourself; I'm all for that.
But in the words of my teenager, "You started it!", telling me off for having an opinion and suggesting I was wrong because I wasn't Morroccan!
I was over it two days ago.
By the way, I used to listen To Peta Mathias until I took her advice and went to a restaurant she recommended.
They overcooked the fish! (Need I say more!)

uli, Dec 24, 11:22pm
No :)

How is lunch progressing!

cookessentials, Dec 25, 6:08am
bought up Christmas day, no need to say more really.

cookessentials, Dec 25, 6:13am
LOL, as much as you would like me to, I dont do hysteric. And no, you are quite right, I dont own a cookware store in Auckland. You are nasty and always will be and it seems to be your mission in life to upset as many people as you can.its in your nature. I come here to help out if I can, not rubbish other peoples contributions like you tend to do. Unlike you, every day is a big day for me, it does not take only one day of the year to be very grateful for what I have.
Maybe go sit by the bbq and try and warm up that icy blood flowing through your veins.

cookessentials, Dec 25, 6:15am
She has a facebook page.you could always pop in there and tell her SHE is rubbish as well.I am sure she would appreciate it it. Heck and you call me arrogant!

uli, Dec 25, 6:52am
You "bought up" Christmas Day!
The mind boggles .
How much did it cost you!

Well, I just bought some Maille hollandaise because for two of us, I cant be bothered making the sauce this year.

Bon appetit . and if I couldn't be "bothered" to cook for myself anymore . I think I would just simply kill myself - why live if I cannot be "bothered" to eat properly and enjoy life to the fullest!

Have a GREAT Xmas and a HAPPY New Year - you will really need it cookie!
And I hope you and yours will enjoy that fake stuff.

OMG it's christmas day! Love and joy to all men etc etc.My Guacamole is pretty simple. just avocado, lemon or lime juice, salt, pepper, red chillies, garlic.Done!
I've never tried it with sour cream etc, but if it tastes good, then who cares!

cookessentials, Dec 25, 9:00am
Exactly.

Edmonds cookbook

richard198, Dec 25, 10:09pm
I'm sure some people like it like that. That's fine.
My point is; once you add those "extra" ingredients such as onion soup mix etc. then it ceases to be Guacamole. It is something else. Call it what ever you like. (except it ain't guacamole) And the same goes for a lot of well known dishes that are iconic or whatever.
For instance, if you wanted to cook genuine Mousakka, you wouldn't put garlic in it. (I know some people do and sure it tastes fine but it ceases to be genuine Mousakka at that point.)

Whats the punishment for a non puritan guacamole, I thought Recipes was for opinions and variations for anyone that wanted to say what they like in cooking. Maybe the OP should have posted in the heading, 'The most authentic guacamole and no tainting as it must be pure'. Pffftt. Spray and walk away.

cookessentials, Dec 25, 10:48pm
Merry Christmas Richard,Hayley, buzzy so that says I need a lesson! I dont think so.Where does it say that richard198! it suggests to the original poster to watch Peta Mathias, alas, Iam notdoing a tv show ( yet LOL)I have a tagine and use it often.even did a tagine cooking demo through our store at a local caf'e which was very popular. You could have come along and learnt something. Have a wonderful day.

Love it market1!
I hope your un-authentic guacamole "solutions" are terribly good to eat - they must be - since there are no problems.

lyl_guy, Dec 25, 11:18pm
6 lashes of cream! But not mock cream or cream in a can. REAL cream. but then you'd have to know what the authentic cream IS.Is it single cream, double cream, whipping cream (would be great for lashing with), thickened cream, or what!

uli, Dec 25, 11:25pm
As long as it is not frozen cream the "lashings" should be fun.

motorbo, Dec 26, 12:02am
this isnt about food or recipes anymore and rarely is when Uli walks in . ur such a sad one

cookessentials, Dec 26, 3:04am
richard198, would you please go back to the first post and read what was asked! it was asked to be used as a dip. You can check a number of authentic Mexican sites who will also have a recipe for a guacamole dip which does indeed have sour cream in it.( please bear in mind, we are talking guacamole DIP, not guacamole. This is what the first poster wanted and itWAS noted by Helen ( davidt) that any of the recipes were appropriate if it was for a dip, which it was. You then came in boots and all going "yuck" at any of the recipes that did not fit in with your "authentic" recipe and then add to that the usual rudeness and nastiness of uli and the thread took on a life of it's own as is usual once that particular poster gets involved. You then started a "slanging match"against me, aided and abetted by uli and anyone else in her "camp". Recipes, to me are peoples own "take" on a certain dish, but one that suits their palate, some recipes shared are also authentic which is also great.it is the sharing of them that is what makes recipes ( usually) a nice place for people to come. It is not a place to come and rip someone elses contribution the shreds. Just remember, not everyone that comes here has a heap of cooking experience and some often feel out of their depth, BUT, they come in to ask questions and get advice and hopefully gain some confidence and learn some new things.it is not always about what HAS to be the right way to do it. I am happy to share what I have here and if someone gets something out of it, then that's fantastic, which ever recipe they choose to try or what ever peice of advice they may take. It is, after all, their choice which one they use. I am only glad to help where and when I can.

motorbo, Dec 26, 4:22am
very well said cookes, i think one thing that is missing from cooking show and cookbooks are the things good cooks forget, the great tips that often make the difference when someone is learning, and this site is great for helping people with that, but some folks sadly are not here for the right reasons and instead are nasty to the core - and put alot of people off

princess_emm, Dec 26, 4:27am
Gosh, ingredient debate aside, I'm more amused that people actually need a recipe to make guac!

cookessentials, Dec 26, 5:18am
Hi princess_em, if you read my post above. Not everyone that comes in here has lots of cooking experience or they just want something a little different. Great that we can offer what ever help or advice we can. Some recipes are second nature, some are not. My hope is that people feel confident enough to ask ANY question asthere is NEVER a stupid question, its how we learn.

huggy5, Dec 26, 5:23am
I like this forum. I ask dumb questions (when I can't get hold of my mother) and I always appreciate the varied answers. It doesn't matter to me if people slate my guacamole or tell me I'm a peasant for considering a packet sauce, in amongst the vitriol there are some genuinely great suggestions!

richard198, Dec 26, 6:01am
The "slanging match" as you call it began when you told me off for daring to have an opinion about Tagine cooking when I wasn't even Morroccan.
As for this thread, the request was for guacamole not avocado dip.
I though I would point that out to the posters who might then be better informed. I also don't like it with those additives and was saying so. I will continue to say so if I feel like it. Get used to it.
Make sure you don't make any mistakes when you post you recipes or you might get "told off"!
