You need to add cornflour with the sugar whe you whizz

White sugar is made by refining raw sugar obtained from sugar cane or sugar beet, removing all impurities.

Icing sugar, also known as confectioners' sugar, is made of white sugar ground into a smooth, white powder There is usually an amount of starch mixed in icing sugar to prevent clumping.

I always thought If you're going to make your own icing sugar you should mix cornflour and sugar,or castor sugar. Have made castor sugar by the whizz method, but always felt that icing sugar had a cornstarch, or cornflour ingredient. Interesting, ??would the starch mentioned by lythande1 be the cornflour?
