Silly, what's wrong with a hand! Break egg into hand, let whites trickle out through fingers. No additional equipment required.

It's just a novelty.Nothing more, nothing less.It works.Nobody is saying it's necessary to do it that way.

Nothing!But, as I said above, it's fun to do with a child helper and can even illustrate some science, if you're so inclined ;)
