Egg Question

Why is it when i poach eggs, the white disintergrates (sp? ) and all im left with is the yolk. are the eggs not good quality? or am i doing something wrong?

I think it's because they're a bit old, they're still okay to eat... . the whites of fresh eggs don't disintegrate
