After my endo operation the dr said to cut all pasta, bread, rice, sugar, coffee tea and alcohol. I can have a little red meat, dairy and potato, plus chicken and fish. Dinners are ok as i have meat and 3 veg, but i really struggle for lunch ideas other than salad and soup. . any suggestions?

After my op my specialist said to cut all these foods as they are contributing towards the build up of bleurghness. I guess because they dont really know what causes it they just cut heaps of stuff that obv wouldnt be good? not really sure on the science, its all on google haha!

all the fun stuff... pain when ovulating, pain during period, pain during intercourse. its actually been worse since the op than it ever was before, but i fainted from the pain once so we thought something should be done. Have you had the op?

Which op? I had the laparoscopy 8 years ago, and had another last year, with a mirena insert. I also have never been told about diet, but have found since the last op, I can no longer drink beer. I have also found I no longer like red wine and can take or leave chocolate. Basically, my body tells me what it thinks and I have to live with that. I do know someone else who had an op (same one I had last time), that she couldn't eat fatty foods. I don't like greasy food anyway, so not much problem there.
One thing I thought interesting was a news article a couple of months ago, where some foreigner was tramping and they got sprayed (maybe) by herbicides. She reckoned because she had endo that it made her "condition" worse.
I decided that if I had to cut out all foods I enjoy, give up coffee and smoking, I may as well just top myself and be done with it. Sorry, but what did I have the op for?
There probably are endo diets. Yes, I do suffer badly and at one stage was taking a day or two off work a month because of it. I've also just sat on the toilet crying in pain, so it'ss not that I don't suffer, I just don't want to give up things I enjoy.

Maybe that kind of diet was suggested because it eliminates gluten and sugar which are 2 of the biggest no nos for most disorders. The rice doesn't contain gluten but if it is white rice then it is high carb and can convert to sugars very quickly. Too much of that stuff can cause havoc for some peoples insides feeding candida overgrowth and the gluten can antagonise auto immune responses. I have recently trialed a gluten free low sugar diet and it is really hard work. I do have more energy but it hasn't solved any real issues thus far but according to a recent abdominal/pelvic ultrasound my insides are stellar, some of the best internal organs the ultrasound lady has seen in a long time so I suppose something is helping keep me in good order lol.

As you said yourself roxursox you would probably have to go low carb altogether if you want to eliminate the effects of sugar - as all starches convert into sugar rather quickly. It doesn't matter if it is brown rice or white rice - its all starch.

I suffered endo for 30 years and tried EVERYTHING. When I eventually had a hysterectomy, all of my organs were glued together with the stuff and because my bladder, bowel etc had to be scraped, it was certainly less painful to stay on a light diet while everything healed. For some time I was unable to drink any alcohol - thank goodness that healed itself! - and I was unable to tolerate rich or fatty foods. Listen to your body and you will work out what suits you and what doesn't.

unknown i am surprised you have so much pain in your life but dont want to give up possible causes - esp smoking - even for a trial? each to their own for sure, but i am prepared to try anything. the diet definately helps anyway - when i have gone off it (such as over xmas) there was an obvious increase in pain. my op was a laparoscopy and i had it in october last year i have definately heard that sprays are a potential cause - not much luck for a small rural country like ours - especially as i grew up on an orchard in HB! i see what you mean about giving up the things you enjoy - it is hard work, but the way i see it is i have had the op, it will hopefully make things better in the long run and im going to do all i can to not make it worse in the mean time. im definately not running out of options and ready to "top myself" ! !

I am very intersted in this thread as my firends 17 year old daughter is suffering from this conditon, she is on the waiting list for either laprascopic surgeryor laproscopic investigations. I would like some more info on the success of the different forms of treatment. has anyone used diet treatment on its own or b4 surgery. They live on a 2 & 1/2 acreblock of land, so I am not sure what spraying has taken place around where they live.
