It's cape gooseberry time again and while searching for recipes I found that they are referred to as the ground cherry or husk cherry. I also found this site with some great recipes. http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/harvest/msg0823461817916.html I've just made a small amount of jam and have more frozen until my pie melons are ready for picking and jam making as melon/cape gooseberry jam is superb.

Cape Gooseberry Sponge Stew fruit with sugar. Strain off syrup & make up to just under 1 pint with hot water. Make up a jelly with it. Leave to get cold. As it is setting, whip then add gooseberries & leave to set.
