Peanut caramel slice?

tracee, Jan 13, 4:58am
It's my husbands child hood memory and wants me to bake it! Does anyone have a recipe? By what he says it has a base with peanuts on top with a caramel topping through it? I'm guessing golden syrup? any help would be great!

I have a recipe for the usual caramel slice, which is a chocolate base, then the usual caramel topping but with roasted chopped peanuts in it also, then the chocolate icing.Does this sound like it?If so, I will post the recipe.

This is from my Great Grandmas recipe book, I make it often.

½ c sugar
2 tsp cocoa
½ c coconut
1 c flour,
100g melted butter
1 tsp baking powder
Mis together, press into lined sponge roll tin

Topping
1 TBSP Flour
1 TBSP golden syrup
½ tin condensed milk
50g butter
1 cup nuts

Heat until a little thick then add the nuts, Pour over base while hot.

Now as not to waste the other ½ tin of condensed milk I double the topping.

Hi, I think you're meaning this recipe. Was looking for it myself! Just omit the rice bubbles if you wish.

Peanut square
Note: These recipes use NZ measurements. 1 c = 1 cup = 250 ml. 1 T = 1 tablespoon = 15 ml. 1 D = 2 teaspoons. 1 t = 1 teaspoon = 5ml. If you're in America, you may find you need a little extra baking powder in recipes that use it.

4oz butter
3/4 c sugar
1 T golden syrup
1 T milk
5oz flour
1 t baking powder
1 c peanuts
1 c rice bubbles or cornflakes

Boil together butter, sugar, golden syrup and milk until it is slightly caramelised. Cool. Add dry ingredients. Lastly add peanuts and rice bubble or cornflakes. Place in a greased sponge roll tin and bake at 180C for 15-20 minutes. Cut into squares while hot.

Hopefully it's the right one, enjoy! :)
