And if you want sugar to dissolve more easily, use the smaller granules of caster sugar rather than the larger granules of ordinary white sugar :)

granulated sugar is the American term for ordinary sugar, just as their powdered sugar is our icing sugar.

thanks everyone, i bought a soft serve ice cream machine for my kids so thought i better get the ingrediants for ice cream, just wasnt to sure what granulated sugar was as didnt see any at supermarket, thanks :)

I would definitely choose caster sugar then, because ordinary white sugar used for baking in the US is like our NZ caster sugar.(You can whizz up sugar in the blender to chop it into finer crystals).
