I have a Black Butter Sauce recipe not sure if its what your after but here goes

Sauce au Beurre-noir
2 oz Butter, 1 Dessert spoonsful of chopped parsley, 1 Tablespoon of Vinegar, Salt and Pepper
Put the butter into a small pan and heat over the fire until golden brown. Cool Slightly. Add the vinegar off the fire, then re-heat the sauce very slowly, but do not boil. Add parsley and S&P. This is much used with skate.

From Warnes Everyday Cookery early 1900s edition I believe, no date to be 100% accurate sorry.

I collect old cookbooks which is why I have this one. .

edith06, by "Black Sauce" are you meaning Worcestershire Sauce (that's what my Mum and my late Dad always called Black Sauce)? If it is a Worcestershire Sauce recipe that you're wanting maybe you'd like this one which is thanks to TM's brianmac (aka cookessentials/Pam)

HOMEMADE WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
3 cups brown vinegar
½ cup each oftreacleandplum jam
1 small onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
¼ tsp each ofcayenne pepper, chilli powderandground cloves
1 tsp ground allspice

Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir over heat until the mixture boils. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Strain the mixture into hot sterilised jars and seal when cold.
Makes about 2 cups. :-))
