I have to have a day on 'clear liquids' and one of the listed variants is clear soup. What would you make? Many thanks.

ferita, Oct 24, 8:15pm
bouillon or consomme

Fresh strained chicken stock would be classified as a clear soup

nfh1, Oct 24, 8:18pm
thanks - does not sound very exciting!

ferita, Oct 24, 8:41pm
A stock cube dissolved in water would be clear soup
Its just water like soup really. Miso soup is another example

thanks again ferita - I am dreading going without my huge amounts of fruit, salad and vegetables!I could starve to death - well perhaps not!

Clear soup is water boiled with something for flavour.

This can be meat (beef, chicken or whatever you fancy), or bones plus veges and herbs.

Then you strain the solids out and eat them later when allowed - and drink the broth.

thanks uli - glad it is only one day!It must be horrid to have to eat like that on a daily basis.Although I suppose it would reduce the shopping bill.

One day is hardly going to kill you.

Thank you for your kind words!

nfh1, Oct 27, 8:33pm
Thanks again ferita and uli - I did what you suggested and coped! Would not want to do it on a regular basis.'Procedure' at 3.00 pm so not long before proper food.I never thought I would crave lettuce!

Good luck with whatever "procedure" nfh1 - and even better luck for a very good outcome! Hope all will be well.

nfh1, Oct 27, 9:32pm

Hi..i been there done that..hospital gave he beef broth for lunch and dinner and yellow jelly for 4 days...enjoy ..

nfh1, Oct 28, 9:15am
LOL - I definitely missed my food, would hate to eat light that permanently!

martine5, Oct 28, 9:21am
Hey nfh1, I wondered if that was what your procedure was, chances are if you have one you may have a few follow ups I know my partner has had them.I bought him some tom yum style clear soups from the supermarket and removed the noodles just to make it a bit more interesting than the standard beef broth.Generally, as I understand it, with the procedure the sedation tends to remove most of your memory of the situation too.I hope all goes well

nfh1, Oct 28, 9:29am
Yes - it was done this afternoon and I can only remember bits and pieces - all sounds quite positive, fingers crossed.Biopsies taken and signs of colitis but as my Mum has Colon Cancer and Dad has bowel Cancer that all sounds pretty damn good to me!

Thanks very much for your good wishes and I will remember the soups from the supermarket - the diet was very restrictive!

Feel free to not answer if you do not want to!!
