An ordinary stainless steel bowl is all you need. If the pudding needs a lid, use a elasticised edged cover. perfect for the job.

They are still around. There is a NZ made one which is stainless steel with a clip lid, they have been made here for years and years.

Mitre 10 have the old fashioned ones as well - screw on lid.

If stuck, just use a stainless bowl, fold a sheet of greaseproof with a double pleat, lay it over the top and tie with string.Survives in the pressure cooker OK for the steak & kidney puds!

Will now have a look in Briscoes though for a lidded one.

I use the stainless bowl with paper over the top to do steak and kidney puds and steam puds. This works great. The 'proper' ones are a bit more than I want to spend.

Another way to use a stainless steel bowl without a lid - place the bowl full of the pudding mix in the bottom of an ovenbag, tie the top above the bowl (not out to the side) with a twist tie, and lower into the boiling water - makes it easy to get out once cooked too..and works well in a crockpot.
