The texture of the sour cream won't be the same as when frozen. The contents seperate when thawed. You may stir it back up, but it will remain a bit runny and won't be the same.

I freeze but only good to use in a recipe rather than on top etc.

Many thanks - I will try it and see what happens - it is coming up to its date and need to do something with it.
