CARAMEL POPCORN Pop 1 cup of popcorn In a saucepan combine: 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup white sugar 60 gms butter 1 Tablespoon golden syrup Boil 5 minutes stirring Remove from heat and add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Pour over popped corn in a roasting dish Stir well (toss all together with two forks) Put in 100*C oven for 1 hour Stir several times Cool completely and store in airtight container

Chocolate coated popcorn
melt a bunch of chocolate melts stir in some popped corn & mix. remove to a tray lined with baking paper & leave until chocolate is solid again - break into pieces if nessesary.
makes good rocks for a mermaid birthday cake.

We did caramel popcorn as kids and poured the caramel over the popcorn but never put it in the oven, worked well, saved power:)

damn why did i look in here? I havent got any popcorn but will have to try these out they sound yummy. :)

Yes, you can omit that last step, but it'll be a bit more sticky and gooey. This recipe is slightly adapted from an American cookbook and I felt I should be true to the original.
