davidt4 - what do you mean by your suburb doesn't have reticulated gas! Mine doesn't either. I have a gas cooktop with an electric oven. The cooktop was installed and pipes run inside my kitchen cupboards to a 9 kg tank fitted to the outside wall of my brick house. It was not expensive to install at all

Yes, that's what I mean.Our kitchen is on the second floor though, and the design of the house does not suit an external gas bottle, so it will be a bit more complicated.

OurKitchen at our holiday home is on the first floor,above a garage ,pipe went down inside the wall and came out behind a large bush,so is well hidden,works well,much better than the ghastly ceramic hob that was there.
