Depends on how sticky the mix is and how much it matters.I quite often line the base, especially if I know the cake will stick.
If the mix is runny you also run the risk of it leaking, so if that's the case I line the base w a circle about 1cm wider than the base all round, press it in and press the edges up the side a little.
