How old are your kids!Ask them what they want and get them involved in making it too.The younger the child the easier to unwrap and eat the food needs to be.Some schools have quite strict policies on what you can and can't have in a lunch box too, as well as rules on rubbish.

My kids (2 boys at high school) still stick with the tried and trusted formula of sandwiches, fruit, baking, chippies and yoghurt or chocolate milk that they've been having since kindy because they eat on the run and you can't play football or ball rush if you're trying to eat something complicated that is likely to deposit it's filling all down your uniform. They make their own and have done so since they started school with decreasing amounts of help. They even do their own baking unless I'm bored at the weekend and have an urge to bake.
