Keeping hot food hot?

busybee231, Jun 29, 1:02am
I have planned a picnic type dinner for me and my partner next week and was wondering how I would transport hot food while keeping it hot!
Any ideas would be much appreciated :)

Perhaps covered in tin foil, wrapped in newspaper, with a hot water bottle inside a chilly bin!

Or wrapped in a towel

Chilly bin.
It keeps things warm as well as cool you know.
For a while anyway.

I have a variety of sizes of the polystyrene bins that salmon are delivered to supermarkets in. I just scrub them out, wipe over with janola, put out in the sun to dry. I use them for hot and cold food- the icepads that come with them are useful. You can line with foil if you wish but I don't. I have lined with damp muslin and used to keep club sandwiches for the next day when time was at a real premium and it worked very well- not one soggy club nor any curled edges! I have small and large oblong ones, square ones all sizes. They are light and easy to store and no fish smell whatsoever.

Not sure about taking it on a picnic, but these are great for home.

as the previous person said wrap in a towel or even a small blanket if you have one.
