So frustrating that this isn't available on demand.Seems others feel the same judging by the comments on the webpage:
Top Chef's by far the best of the "competition" format cooking shows IMO.

It seemed poorly advertised, but then I don't watch a lot of TV(and hardly ever channel 4) so I might have missed the ads.
First two episodes can be watched on Youtube in 15 minute installments at this link. However, as I said, the competition proper starts in its traditional form tonight, so it doesn't matter if you flag the 2 audition episodes.They're worth a look though:
I am pissed off. I didn't even know it was on. TV Guide were useless and didn't highlight anything. I am bloody angry for I love that show but too late now.

Yep, I was irritated after I missed the first episode as well.
Not too late to start watching though - follow the youtube link I posted above and you'll find the first two episodes available on that channel.You'll have just missed the 3rd episode then, and you can catch up by reading the synopsis for that installment.
