Does this thicken when cool ! Is bubbling, butno whisk indentation yet.

Yes, it does.If it's been bubbling very gently for about 15 to 20 minutes, it'll be ready to pour into jars.

Thanks Ellie, was a spur of the moment thing, to useup my lemons from lemon shortbread :P Just put into a plastic container for the mo, will get some nice small jars from the warehouse this week to give some to my ma :)

Doesn't keep long in my house, 'cos I adore it and scoff it before it has a chance to go off, but to answer your question, if it's made with eggs, butter, sugar etc, then it will keep several weeks in the fridge.
