dh reuses the soft drink bottles.had some glass ones until one night we kept hearing bang.couldnt figure out what was going on.in the morning the garage was smelly sticky with bits of glass all over.so switched to plastic bottles.he just washes them in hot water.

Do u use anything to sterilise them! Or just plain hot water!

just asked him.he says he washes them with cold water only.never had any issues in four years. if he has hot water handy he uses that.but the kit etc is in a shed so mostly cold water he washes the equipment in boiled water though.makes couple of lots a month

OK thanks for that. My husband has just brewed his first batch and the kit says to sanitise everything in a weak bleach solution but I dont use bleach ever. But sounds like just plain boiling water will be ok which is great.
