I would use just enough water to stop frozen berries from sticking to pan probably about ½ cup. Not made Blackcurrant jam for years so not sure on how much water you would normally use.

Here is a recipe which is really delish, it uses a lot of sugar to fruit, but that is what makes it so nice as blackcurrant jam can be bitter. If you must cut down the water, I would only cut about 1/2 pint.
3lb blackcurrants 4 pints water 7lb sugar Boil currants and water rather quickly for 1/2 hour. Add sugar and boil very rapidly for 10 minutes.
