Pot roast recipe calls for dried prunes as well as dried apricots and raisins. Can I substitute prunes for dates or will that be too sweet/wrong taste and shall I just add extra raisins in place of prunes!

riderx, as much as I love dates IMO the best option would be to add the prune quantity as ½ extra dried apricots and ½ extra raisins - dates may make the recipe too sweet but they are a different consistency anyway and IMO would just mush down to be unrecognisable.
