I have an old set of AWW recipe cards. Did the cake have mock cream in the middle?

not sure if it was mock cream but I do know it was 2 cakes with something in the middle

This is the recipe I have (picture is of two halves with cream in the middle):
125g butter, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 3 medium bananas,
2 cups self-raising flour, pinch salt, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 2 tbsp milk.
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time. Peel and mash bananas, measure 1 cup, add to creamed mixture, mix well. Fold in sifted flour, salt and soda alternatively with the milk.
Spoon mixture into two 18cm tins. Bake in moderate oven 25 to 30 minutes.
When cold fill with whipped cream, dust top with sifted icing sugar.

There is also a recipe for mock cream if you want it.
