we bought apple and elderberry jelly many years ago at a school steptoe auction and us kids loved it (but I am 41 this year).Mum tried several times to replicate it but always added too much elderberry, and it was gross - as i recall apple jelly is amber/orangey, the good apple and elderberry was red tinted (but still see through) and Mum's attempt was purple and not see through - and I do recall my little sister puking for hours after eating too many raw elderberry

LOL firefly001.love your story!Thanks for sharing.Maybe Elderberries are best with another fruit such as apples.Hope someone comes up with a recipe as I can see the elderberries are not far off being ripe.I guess I will have to fight the birds for them lol
