Help? Caramel Slice

The base needs Brown sugar and surprise I have none. Will it be ok to use white suar?

lovinglife6, IMO the brown sugar would make the base darker in colour and would also give it a more 'caramelly' flavour.
I don't recall having seen a caramel slice recipe that uses brown sugar for the base - all the recipes seem to use white sugar so I say, go for it and use the sugar that you DO have i. e. white sugar, unless you have some raw sugar, in which case you may be better to use that in preference to using the white sugar.

My recipe doesn't sue brown sugar so I am sure white sugar would be fine.
