Nelson used to have a cafe called the Hitching Post. They made a delicious chocolate caramel slice. Has any one still got their recipe book. Many years ago I used to make this and have lost the recipe.

CHOCOLATE SLICE (Hitching Post Restaurant, Page 26)
1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla 4oz butter 1/2 cup caster sugar 3 teaspoons cocoa 2 cups blended biscuits 1 cup coconut 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Whisk egg and vanilla.Melt butter, sugar and cocoa.Mix with egg.Add all ingredients together.Press into 8 inch tin and chill.
Icing 1 cup icing sugar 1 tablespoon butter (soft) 1 dessertspoon cocoa 1 teaspoon Cherry Brandy or Rum
Beat all together for a couple of minutes.Ice and slice.
Note:I can't see any caramel element in this recipe, but it's the only chocolate slice in the book.Let me know if there are other recipes there that you'd like.

Hi, I have the Hitching Post recipe book as well &there is only the choc slice recipe,there carrot cake is just awesome as well/Maureen
