I have had this one for years Election Slice 100 g butter 1 cup sugar 2 Tblspn golden syrup 1 lightly beaten egg 1 cup flour 1 cup coconut 1 cup sultanas 5 crushed weetbix Preheat oven 180. Grease shallow 28 x 15cm tin. Put butter, sugar, golden syrup in saucepan on low heat, stir until butter & sugar has melted. Add egg & remaining ingredients, mix well until all combined.Press into prepared tin, bake 20 mins.Cool before cutting into squares. If desired ice with lemon icing.

When this recipe was given to me many years ago it was called the Titirangi slice.I have been making it from time to time over the years, it is delicious and very quick and easy. Slightly different with 150 grams butter, 1tsp baking powder and 6 not 5 crushed weetbix.
