Brought this large Asian clay pot slow cooker at a garage sale the other day. Keen to try it out with an Asian recipe designed for such a pot. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Think of a soccer ball made of clay with a smallish lid. Put it in the oven. Bit like a crock pot.

Braised Claypot Chicken with Pumpkin
½ chicken 200 g pumpkin 1 cup water
Marinade 1 Tbsp light soy sauce 2 tsp sugar ½ tsp salt 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
Chop chicken into pieces. Mix with the marinade, leave for 15 minutes. Peel and de-seed the pumpkin, chop into pieces. Steam the pumpkin for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in the claypot. Stir fry the chicken pieces until fragrant. Add pumpkin and water. Cover pot and braise for 10 minutes. Serve.

Claypot Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs
500 g pork belly spare ribs 2 tsp minced garlic 2 star anise
Sweet and sour sauce ½ cup Zhenjiang vinegar ½ cup Shaoxing wine ¼ cup dark soy sauce ¼ cup light soy sauce ½ cup sugar ¾ cup water
Chop spare ribs into pieces. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in the claypot. Stir fry the minced garlic over low heat until fragrant. Blend in sweet and sour ingredients. Adjust to high heat and bring to boil. Add star anise and spare ribs. Reduce to low heat. Cover pot and braise for 1 hour until meat is tender and sauce has thickened. Serve.
