If everyone that is keen to contribute now would pay $10 up front - then fetish would have the money to pay for about 3 or 4 years - together with kiwinewt's offer (which means a reduction in cost down to something like $40 a year).

After that members could be "bulk" e-mailed and asked how much they'd like to contribute and I am sure there will be more than $40 a year coming together.

So it is all going to be good - if fetish wants to accept this offer :)

kiwinewt, Feb 3, 7:14pm
uli - we can also put up a "donate now" button that will enable donations to be made online as people are keen. Perhaps a little bit of advertising (kiwi small businesses only, and keep the costs to all down) can help too - I'm happy to do the hosting for free but donations are always welcome ;) and plus - it could go towards putting in some good hours to tidy everything up more/etc/etc/etc...

kiwinewt, Feb 3, 7:40pm
@valentino - email sent...

katalin2, Feb 3, 8:47pm
happy to contribute also- have used he site over the years and nice to know it is there. Fetish has put too much work into it to lose it. Contact me through one of my auctions and happy to make "donation"

fetish, Feb 4, 7:00am
Phew, I don't know where to start, perhaps with donations ... for the time being thank you to all that have offered to part with your hard earned cash, but we can leave that on the back burner for now, the site still has a few months where it is so there is no immediate urgency. kiwinewt I'll happily take you up on that offer, I will email you tomorrow to see how you'd like to get about doing it (sorry running out of time today ! ) Also, it sounds as though we have kiwinewt, valentino, davidt4, at least happy to help out, but how about a show of hands on who would be happy to put some time towards adding recipes, or is it a majority more towards just having the site as is left ? Which would seem sad to me that its never going to be more than it is now ... I'll see what you all think ... oh and lastly, I do want to make one thing very clear, the site has always been free to use, and should remain as much so as possible, its also been non profit, and that MUST remain so, I do not ever want profit to be made off the recipes, such as over the top donations, or profit made from selling any of the recipes in any way at all, if that couldn't be agreed on I would have to close the site and delete the lot, as its neither my place or anyone elses to gain from the recipes that all of the wonderful people that haunt this recipe forum have freely given over the years, and I'm sure that the majority of you will be with me on that issue :)I'll email kiwinewt tomorow and we can go from ... . have a lovely day all :)

valentino, Feb 4, 7:36am
Haven't received one yet... just to confirm, didda at that xtra place.

Also noted fetish's latest posting so possibly fetish can stay on board but as also noted, assistance re adding and maintaining to which I for one will continue as such and now the need for a few others to offer in this area... .

And to fetish, will you be happy to continue as the administrator or do you wish someone to come forth like kiwinewt or anyone else that is very dependable to take soley and-or are you are happy to remain and assist in a dual role or whatever.

Finally, looking at all the postings to date, I don't think costs and coming up with money via donations or offers will be a problem.

Cheers.

Fetish
Another big thank you, from one who is always "lurking" on the Trademe Cooks

kiwinewt, Feb 4, 8:11am
@valentino

I'll try send it from another email address when I get home tonight. I'll send a test email now though

kiwinewt, Feb 4, 8:15am
I totally agree. I want to keep it free to use etc. I dont, however, think that the people who contribute with time moderating/etc should go unthanked. The ideas I have for it will be in no way used to make a profit - any donations or money raised through ads/etc would go back into the site and its members.

ferita, Feb 4, 10:36am
I can donate hosting for the project if you need the site hosted I can also do web design and graphics but I do not have the time to run the site.

fisher, Feb 4, 11:53am
Removing the hosting equation, its only 22. 44 a year all up... . so for MY view I would go with feritta for the free hosting...
set up three key folks (suggest : valentino cookessentials davidt4)to be main admins so they can vote on what to do if needed, majority rules and maybe some forum mods looking after sections with access rights to add recipes for those categories... that spreads the workload and keeps the site running nicely...

"Ferita" is an ex chef and has contributed in the past to the board so has an interest in food wherein kiwinewt has never contributed. .
Eden can show them the ropes and remain admin and bow out later if she so wishes... just my thoughts... .

valentino, Feb 4, 2:49pm
Who else would be interested in being a moderator or even assisting in admistrating, that one can depend on like in addition as noted above.

As noted before my hands are not the best and nice if there are others whom are well known, has a very broad overview and is virtually totally unbiased in addition to the above! ! !

Please step forward.

I can think of a few others but prefer them to note themselves.

Fisher has noted in the latter part of his posting another thought re hosting, so perhaps in the near future, certain heads would need to get together along with Fetish and start the ball rolling.

So, once more, any body else whom is interested in being a moderator whatever... .

Cheers.

kiwinewt, Feb 4, 6:26pm
Just because I havent contributed doesnt mean I dont use it and see it as a valuable resource. Up to the boss I suppose...

fisher, Feb 4, 7:37pm
well it doesn't need "donation buttons""adverts etc" to support it if you were going to host it. . just needs the domain paid for each year... 19. 95 plus GST. . and some 6 or so dedicated foodies with site access to upload recipes as required... dont you agree. . ? ? ? It's just a downloaded php message board with a front page... which I would be happy to rewrite and update. . if the new admin required...

valentino, Feb 4, 8:37pm
****I will repeat this note again... ! *****

We need a moderator or 3 plus... .

Also just simply need someone to work with Fetsh in Administrating.

Money is not the key ! ! ! !

It is the time that is spent to be shared by a few more.

Nor it is the hosting and-or domain thoughts, please leave this out of current thoughts, we can come back to it when the key thoughts as noted above is answered.

Cheers.

Re your suggestion, and fisher's too: I am happy to put my hand up to commit to x hours per week to copy & paste recipes from a category or two into TradeMeCooks if you are still wanting people.

valentino, Feb 5, 11:47am
Thank you... . Someone will get back to you.

Cheers

sherralynne, Feb 6, 6:27am
Hi, I would contribute to the website, I've been using it for years and it's been a wonderful resource. Fetish has listed some of the recipes that I've contributed to the TM threads. I would be very disappointed to see the website go.

fetish, Feb 6, 6:37am
ok, some of you are not going to like this, which is why I did it before posting, so that my mind was not changed ... I've received so many emails at home about this issue that I'm sorry I wont be responding to them, it would take me hours . . so I'll just say here and now, and this is done and dusted, TMC is no more . . as of about 20 minutes ago I deleted it all . . I'm sorry for no warning . . but I tried that and then it started off with all of this and it just jumped off from there and everyone had different opinions and different advice, and there was no way I could appease everyone . . and money was not a deciding factor with any of this, its my lack of time and health issues that made TMC's just too hard, and then the attempted closing down got too hard after I started getting all this advice from you all . . I am sorry I gave no more warning . . but I am sure most of the recipes will be found on here again ... Thats all I can really say, so thanks for some wonderful memories and no doubt some weight gain from testing out all of the great recipes that were shared freely on here, and will continue to be shared, RIP TMC, peace.

jaybee2003, Feb 6, 6:58am
Hi Fetish. Firstly, I'd like to say thank you for all the time and effort you have put in in the past to create and maintain TMC while you could. It was a great asset, and a huge committment, but as you say, recipes WILL come again. I for one have 2 x 80 page loose leaf albums chokka full of recipes from the TM boards over the years and I know many others do also, and will happily share them again on here. Secondly, I can appreciate how difficult your decision must have been for you, and do hope others will respect your decision, as it is yours to make. I wish you all the best, and sincerely hope you don't become a stranger to us on the TM MB! Cheers, and many thanks, Jo.
