So others aren't allowed to have other theories or opinions now? You CAN choose to ignore what they say. However I don't think there's anything wrong with checking out pros and cons.

frances1266, Feb 4, 11:00am
No there is nothing wrong with people having opinions that is what the Opinions board is for. This is the recipe board.

waterlilies, Feb 4, 11:00am
Far out you lot sure can get you knickers in a twist as soon as the S_O_Y word is mentioned.
This is what the 4th time someone has mentioned S_O_Y (a bit like voldermort I am scared to actually say it)
I am a strong believer of everything in moderation. The calls of brainwashing could apply to either side of the argument in my mind and so why don't people just let people make their own decisions?
And no I don't eat much soy I like soy and linseed bread, but boy I hate tofu, it's the texture of snot.

frances1266, Feb 4, 11:04am
Waterlilies I love tofu and think the texture is good. How was the tofu you had prepared and was it the firm tofu or the soft tofu. I posted a recipe for Golden Tofu with Quick Peanut sauce on the recent tofu thread and it is delicious.

waterlilies, Feb 4, 11:08am
I lived in Japan tried every tofu cooked every way and all I could ever think was SNOT! lol.
There is a japanese restaurant that does it with a teriyaki sauce that I can almost handle.

frances1266, Feb 4, 11:11am
Have bumped up the tofu thread. Japanese tend to use a soft tofu whereas westerners seem to prefer the tofu with a firm texture.

uli, Feb 4, 11:38am
Obviously I am NOT allowed to post any con's - as EVERY single post gets deleted by a "moderator" (whatever or whoever that may be) - it is obviously someone who hasn't got the slighest clue about realityor even science ... never mind - we will just have more sick people in this country,

And YESSSS - I AM now doing screenshots and if those "moderators" keep going I will complain to the top of TM - as this is going beyond ridiculous now.

elliehen, Feb 4, 12:22pm
uli, you are clearly feeling very angry, but I think if you look carefully you will find that TM is not remotely interested in your 'cons' - they're all still there.

They are also not too concerned about personal insults, unless obscene. The whole messageboard is awash with insulting remarks as [some] posters hide behind the anonymity of their keyboards.

What does seem to concern TM, from my observation, is what is known as 'auction sabotage' or unfair commentary on another's trading. Possibly you've been guilty of that? ?

indigo1, Feb 4, 12:24pm
Coming from someone who stayed with a family in japan who had tofu with 2-3 meals a day it did lose its appeal rather quickly! But in moderation it is good if done well! look fwd to trying some of these recipes

Tofu does have its health benefits too (high in protein which makes it good for vegetarians and also improves lipid levels), whilst there may be some evidence potentially linking soy to adverse health effects, I believe no "cause and effect" association has been proven.

I dont claim to be an expert on soy however. Would be good to see thread get back to what OP was on about and that being recipes (the name of this forum is recipes, not opinions).

ruby19, Feb 4, 12:56pm
Perhaps they can have an opinions segment for foodies, then everyone can rant over there, and the recipes segment can be just as it is titled for RECIPES.

I'm NOT sickly or overweight. . neither do I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression or anything else that you speak so sneeringly about. So therefore I AM brimming with good health thankyou!
If ANYONE makes others feel unwelcome it would be you elliehen. . and I'm sorry to say that! . . But have you even come into the low carb thread. . do you just read and lurk? . . Because I am quite sure that if you came in with useful contributions or questions that you would be welcomed :)
I find your comments about people in that thread [one of which is me from time to time] offensive.
I think you'll find that it's diets other than low carb which are the cause of the attraction of"a number of unwell people who are at wits' end and seeking one more way to try to alleviate their symptoms? "

If you had a tofu recipe toplace in this thread. . why did you not do so and ignore the comments of those that offered a link or cut and pasted info'? Instead you chose to once again PREACH YOUR VIEWS to everyone.

What 'I'd' like to know is. . why do YOU feel the need to run down the low carb way of eating? . . you do it constantly. I'm soooo over reading your negativity.

doug57, Feb 4, 1:07pm
Sorry to hijack your thread daryl37! ! . . But I am an'avid meat eater' too. . and given the choice of tofu, I'd rather decline and have an omelette instead if meat is unavailable or unaffordable! LOL
I'm quite certain that the posters that offered links etc were not trying to deliberately cause offence to you, they were just offereing their opinions as 'meat eaters'! lol

doug57, Feb 4, 1:11pm
See this? . . This is what is downright RUDE elliehen. . in my humble opinion of course. [no doubt you'd disagree]

Takes alot to rile me. . but you get the award today. . well done.

doug57, Feb 4, 1:13pm
lolololololololol. . have just discovered you have blacklisted me from your auctions. . WHY? [Is this because I participate in the low carb thread? ] That's a little juvenile isn't it?
And this IS a serious question also. .

hezwez, Feb 4, 1:18pm
I love tofu in the humble stir fry. . and doug, your recipe is... . ?

doug57, Feb 4, 1:21pm
Hezweg... I already said I'd rather eat an omelette? . . I just popped in for a quick read and was astonished at elliehens soapbox speech. PLUS. . I was answering her 'serious question'!

But surely 'you'd' like to share your stir fry recipe with all interested parties? :))

doug57, Feb 4, 1:25pm
I did eat some DELICIOUS tofu in singapore once. . I think it was with some sort of peanutty satay sauce. But years later I did stumble upon the not so flash aspects of soy and have refrained from eating it since.

craytail, Feb 4, 1:27pm
*ahem* since when did TM = elliehen? ? ? ?

uli, Feb 4, 2:42pm
well I asked earlier if elliehen is one of the moderators which she said she is not ...

I have never ever even once "sabotaged an auction" - why would I - and why would you say so?

I have also never ever been contacted by TM about anything I have written on these boards - maybe I am the only one here that has never ever even been reprimanded ... so what is your writing all about?

Edit:
P. S. : Sorry daryl37 for this slinging match in your thread ...

daryl37, Feb 4, 3:34pm
Thanks. I think I wil just leave you to it :)

runeaholics, Feb 5, 1:47pm
Back to the tofu recipes, have you ever tried Mapo Tofu? Google it and I'm sure you'll get lots of results... ;)

ruby19, Feb 6, 6:12am
I have a recipe for a vegetarian "meatloaf" that is pretty good it has oats, tofu and feta cheese as part of its ingredients, let me know if you`d like the recipe. It`s pretty good in sandwiches, and I don`tlike "fake" meat products, but this was tasty.

pickles7, Feb 6, 6:43am
lets be having it ... . ruby19 ... . I made something for my daughter-in law once it was delicious, it was so nice I used it all. . Would love to try something else that has been tryed... .

ruby19, Feb 6, 7:57am
Vegetarian meatloaf.
1/4 cup walnuts, crushed
2 celery ribs, chopped
3/4 cup onion, chopped
2 green onions, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
285 g firm tofu
225gfeta cheese, crumbled
1 1/4 cups quick-cooking oats
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup * could use just BbQ sauce or chili sauce
2 tablespoons bbq sauce for topping
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoonsparsley, chopped
1 teaspoon vegetable stock powder

Pre heat oven to 180oC
Crush walnuts until quite small and set aside.
Sauté celery, onion, green onion and garlic over medium heat until tender about 4 minutes.
Remove veggies from heat and let cool while you do the following steps.
Mash tofu in a bowl and stir in walnuts, feta, oats, soy sauce, ketchup, mustard, parsley, and veg stock pdr
Once mixed stir in veggies.
Season with salt and pepper.
Coat 9X5in loaf pan with cooking spray.
Add mixture and pack in tightly.
Top with a thin coat of BBQ sauce
Bake for 55 minutes.

Original recipe called for Poultry seasoning, but I substituted the Vegata vegetable stock powder.
Enjoy!

hezwez, Feb 6, 8:03am
Dogg57, I didn't think a stir fry recipe would need to be spelled out to the learned contributors here... but I marinade the tofu in S-O-Y sauce and sear it in the hot wok before adding the vegetables.
