I remember this as a kid with gingernuts but i believe it can be done with Choc chippie bikkies too - does anyone know what you dip them in? Is it gingerale (non alcoholic for the kids lol) Then what? whpped cream to join in log and cover with whipped cream? ? Any variations or corrections? Ta :)

yes, you got it. It's not something you can muck up!
I did get lazy once and do it in layers in a dish instead of a log. More transpotable too.
