Removing scum on jam

I have just made a batch of strawberry jam. After the rapid boil and remove from the heat, I used a slatted spoon to try and get the scum off and managed to get quite a bit of it. However, I found it impossible to get it all, and once again, as in previous years, the pink foam has found its way into the jars. In the past I have tried the knob of butter thing but that did not take it away either. How do people get jars of strawberry jam without that pink foam in it?!

Personally I don't care about the foam and just enjoy the jam :)

This year I put a couple of sticks of rhubarb in mine mmmm delicious.

I just use a good knob of butter, roughly the size of a large walnut or two.
I don't mind the so called scum either.

No, it tastes the same, but I just prefer the look of the clear jam!

Same.

+1 - stir the butter through - use a little more butter if needed.

Scoop it off with a cup, can't see how a slotted spoon would work well

Like others said, add a little butter, that does the trick

Happy memories of my mother making strawberry jam and skimming the foam off into a saucer. We loved eating it on fresh bread. Somehow it always tasted better than the jam!
