I was searching for a recipe & came across your request for Marrow/ginger jam by chance in an old thread. Sorry I didn't answer earlier. nb.I haven't made this one. Here goes
1kg preparedmarrow 150ml water 50g root ginger 1459g white sugar 1 lemon 100g crystallized ginger 1 bottle commercial pectin Peel, seed dice & weigh the marrow & put into the preserving pan with the water. Add the bruised ginger root tied in a muslin bag; cover & simmer for 20 minutes. Chop the crystallized ginger & add to the pan with the juice of the lemon & warmed sugar, stirring well until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to a full boil for 2 minutes then remove the pan from the heat & discard the muslin bag. Stir in the pectin & continue to skim & stir for 1 minute, allow to cool before potting. Seal when cold. Note .Marrow benefits from the use of commercial pectin as it has a struggle to reach a set when cooked without more co-operative fruit. Use this recipe as a basis for experimenting with your own added flavours.
I'm not sure if bottled /liquid pectin is still available so if using the powdered type, you may have to adapt .not sure.

Bumping for uli - she likes people to come back and say thank you, so she'll be here soon, I'm sure.

I'm sure she will, too. She's about, because I've just seen her posting in another thread a few minutes ago.

I suspect you're being ignored, samanya, maybe as "punishment" for some grievance long past. I'm envious ;-)
However, it looks like a good recipe you've found in answer to her query and if uli had posted it for you, I'm sure you'd have been back to acknowledge it.

I suspect you are right. Doesn't bother me, common courtesy is an admirable trait, sadly lacking in a few.

That is such a nasty thing to say but one has learned not to expect better.I'm sure Uli will be along if she sees the thread. In the meantime, I thought it was very kind of samanya to post that recipe for uli .
How is it that a kind thought, followed by an even kinder deed is turned into another opportunity for the venting of malice against the person whom the thread was originally intended!

Buzzy .you can't tell me that uli hasn't seen this thread, she was posting last night, all over the place, therefore making elliehhen's comments valid, I had the same thoughts myself. Social graces are not everyone's forté, sadly. However, I'm happy to share a recipe when requested & I did.

For Heaven's sake. It's not as If this messageboard has a culture of acknowledgement or thanks.I post hundreds of recipes for people and it is a rare treat to receive any acknowledgement, let alone feedback.

If it makes a difference I was gratified that you thought to do such a nice thing.I hope you are above paranoia and petulance and not allow others to insinuate into your own personality, their own brand of negativity and malice.

"It's not as If this messageboard has a culture of acknowledgement or thanks. " .how true is that & it's not just the recipes forum! It has been noted that 'some' people expect thanks & quickly criticise if none are given. You go to a lot of effort to post some very helpful answers & lovely recipes & a 'thank you' should be the norm, but in saying that, it says way more about the recipient than you. Keep up the good work, a lot do appreciate your recipes, myself included. *Thank you.*

I am my own person with enough life experience & astute enough not tobe tempted into allowing my personality to be insinuated by others. (what a strange comment for you to make) I comment on facts, as I see them & it is blatantly obvious that uli is ignoring this thread .so be it, if that's what she chooses to do.

Often thanks are never given. There is a prolific poster in here (245sam) who posts many excellent and very helpful recipes and hints. Often there is never a word of thanks to her, which I feel badly about. I'd like to go around thanking people like her all the time and apologising for the thread starters who cannot be bothered posting a thank you, but that would just look stupid. I've even occasionally thought to start a thread on that particular subject but I know where that would lead if I started it.

Another valued poster, 245sam. You don't need to feel responsible for others lack of 'social graces'. Unfortunately it's a sad statement on a portion of today's society.

Ooooh I feel all virtuous-I have sincerely thanked both davidt4 and 245sam recently for their very helpful advice and recipes!
The main problem is that they may not be seen by the intended recipient for quite some time after the event.
Thank you samanya.I have been gifted a marrow by a neighbour and wondering what the devil to do with it!

What does look stupid (churlish would be a better word) is to ignore a thread with your name in the heading when it is intended to answer a query you've posted.
Perhaps a better way to get attention would be to put a typo in the heading or to misuse the words bought and brought ;-)

Maybe you are more transparent than you think.

Maybe you are pickles ;-)
Whenever you post straight after me, I suspect you think that I'm "slipping again" (your quote) and that you want your thread bumped.
ETA: Consider it done!

Care to elaborate! I have no idea what you are getting at so if you'd be courteous enough to enlighten me, I'd be appreciative, tia. btw .I have saved quite a lot of your recipes too .so thanks for sharing.

For anyone who has ever felt unacknowledged in Recipes, here is a rare treat:
Actually, now that it's fairly certain this thread won't be hi jacked by anyone, an ideal opportunity to turn it into a completely positive thread. I'll start I have saved a huge amount of recipes, hints, budget recipes like home made cleaners etc from this forum over a few years now & I have finally got myself organised & bought a couple of loose leafed folders & have printed most of them out & I'm starting to get them filed. I know I could always look them up on line, but I like to have a hard copy in front of me when searching for inspiration. I tried printing out individually & it got put in my recipe drawer & into the hard to find basket .I like to think that after I've karked, someone in the family will enjoy browsing through my folders .so thanks one & all for your contributions& help.
