I really rate him and made sure I was at home to watch his programme.
Wish I went to his restaurant while living in the U.K.
Note: The Fat Duck has been awarded three Michelin stars and was voted Best Restaurant in the world in 2005.

Gee 2005.......

I find it hard to comprehend turtle fishing, poor turtles

Pretty amazing guy, self taught, spent 1 month in a professional kitchen before open his own restaurant

I find it very fascinating ( apart from the grasshopper and turtles) the bubbling puddings look pretty amazing. Certainly nothing basic about him LOL

He's really interesting to watch, but I don't really think any of his recipes would be ones I'd attempt.

He is a genius with a wild imagination, I loved the gingerbread house he made last series.

vintagekitty, Mar 1, 8:43pm
thats the idea, its food art. I actually think the earlier series was better

I think hes awesome! Never got to go to his restaurant whilst living in the UK either but he has taken over our favourite restaurant while we were living there - Foliage, in the Manderin Orient Hotel. Its named something else though but we will def be going when we go back there!
Was going to buy one of his cookbooks for my partner as he is an amazing cook but after a flick through, half the ingredients are very specialist and the recipes looked extremely complicated so I didnt bother lol

We watched the pink drink part then turned off when he was about to make turtle soup...don't need the entertainment that bad.

I really don't like him much but his creative approach certainly is interesting & I have no doubt he's a fantastic chef. For my taste tho, I find his food creations much too processed - can't think of a better word but I like my food to be food and recognizably so - not something out of a science lab but then again I haven't really watched the program for a while, maybe he also does less complicated things...last one I watched he had a surgeon sow a pig to a chicken (from memory) and then stuffed it with other bits of meat prior to roasting it (he also used something..an enzyme I think to fuse all the different meats together??) Decorated and flamboyant as the unveiling of this dish was - it really put me off and I like my meat lol - Guess for those of you who watch his show you might know the episode I mean - could well be that I'm remembering things wrong :-)

He doesn't just promote that contrived "molecular gastronomy" side of things; he recently opened a restaurant in London which celebrates English traditions. We tried to get a booking there for May this year and they are completely booked out until the end of May.

I love his stuff... im saving to get his book called Fantastical Feasts so I can admire, if not at least attempt his fantastic recipes.

I found it very interesting, but I don't think I personally would have tried the worms or crickets (but that's just me), but what I do notice is he isn't constantly using the "f" word like Gordon "f-ing" Ramsay.
