I feed 4 adults (Well 2 adults & a 16 & 17 year old) and it would be nowhere near that.
I spent $320 yesterday but that was for about 3-4 weeks of staples. We eat alot of fresh fruit & Veg so that is usally over $50 a week and I buy meat seperately when on special or marked down. Think just out of curiosity next time my visa bill comes in I will find out, it will be hard though as the freezer is chocca so can you count that? ... But I am picking it will average to about $200-$250 a week.

I don't go weekly. Round about 3 to 4 weeks, $250. But I don't buy meat or veges there, nor even some other things. Loo paper and washing powder from Warehouse for instance.

I often find that some things are cheaper when on special at our local Four Square shop than the specials at Countdown, toilet paper and honey spring to mind immediately, and I always buy my bread at the 4 square as Countdown doesn't have the brand we like. I also buy some of Pams products as I find them reasonably priced and reasonable quality and they aren't available at Countdown (in general I find the Countdown own products not as good as Pams) Sorry that doesn't answer your question. My grocery bill varies considerably from week to week, and sometimes I go only once every two or three weeks.

About $120 a week, sometimes less, but for only 2 adults (1 pregnant one haha), we buy good quality meat but less of it and try and bulk out meals with soup and lentils/beans in lasagnes etc!

So far this week we have spent $220 for 2 adults and still have quite a bit more to get. In saying that it is our first shop in the house so starting from the very beginning.

lazydog - what is "grocery".
Is it everything you buy in a week including toilet paper, coca cola, washing powder, nappies, meat, veges, fastfood, bread, dairy, simmer sauces, cat food, frozen food, etc etc ?
And for how many people, pets, visitors ...
Hard to compare if you do not give some parameters.

About $200 a week here for 2 adults, a 15 year old who eats more than an adult and a 12 year old who eats as much as I do - I have managed to get it down by buying what's on special and not being so brand loyal. Also I make a list - I write a meal plan before I go and then write a list - I only buy what's on the list because I found I was buying for the sake of it or because it looked nice on the shelf.

Yesterday I spent $371. 00 at New World, then $63. 00 at vege world. At Vege world I get my milk as it is the cheapest around, so get 10 2 litres, that will only last us just over a week as we go through 2 litre a day, and our veges and fruit. I shop every 2 weeks. Groceries for 3 adults, 1 teenager, 1 cat, 3 bird avaries, 2 dogs. Only ever buy specials, so some fortnight its good brands the next will be basic. We have a vege garden, and our own freezer beast, sheep and pig. We also have chooks so have lots of eggs for baking. Still find it expensive. Dont smoke, and have a drink of wine a nite.

Probably lots of cheaper items like bread, rice, pasta etc. OR live on a farm with free meat, milk etc.

Want to know that answer as well. I had a friend once who made the same sort of brag. But she conveniently forgot about 'top up' food and the fact that they bought their lunch daily. I did a quick tally and realised she was spending at least twice that amount but that was factored into their 'spending allowance' and not considered groceries.

$260 a fortnight plus two top ups of $40 each. For two adults and a nearly 2 year old

to be honest i dont check how much i spend in total, but i rarely eat out, all my lunches, breakfasts and dinners are basically from my weekly shop ( shop more than once a week at times) i eat meat or fish or chicken every day, i might have a vege meal at lunch or dinner than the other will be meat based, as im gluten free i dont eat bread, pasta but i do eat rice and potatoes, there is no way i spend under 100 a week, i buy all my veges at the vege shop and spend anything from 13 to 25 a week there.

It has to vary from season to season. This time of the year, vegetables and even meat is more expensive. In the summer I grow vegetables but that doesn't make my weekly outgoings much cheaper as plants and sundry other hardware and goods for the garden are all factored into my monthly grocery outgoings.
When we are both home I spend precisely (because I keep detailed records and don't guess) somewhere between $660 - $670 per month so divided roughly by 4 I have a total weekly food and grocery outgoing of approx $165 to $170 for 2 adults and the neighbour's cat (which I feed fresh meat too). That is for every last bit of consumer spending to do with food and groceries including personal grooming products.
We eat like kings, (three home cooked meals a day), and our personal grooming products are usually not cheap. Sometimes I buy things like socks and hosiery at the supermarket and that is all included as well.

yeah true buzzy, i also buy alot of extras that i would include in that price, and i eat well

Download all transactions from all your bank accounts for the year put them into one spread sheet then filter out everything but New World, Pak n Save Count down and the like Get the total and divide it by the number of week in the year. $387...

But surely that wouldn't be accurate. What about purchases from markets? Or takeaways or bought lunches? What about all those lattes? My butcher doesn't give me a receipt. I have to pay cash and write it down on a bit of paper till I get home. Then there are cash purchases and impulse buys in the service station. Every little bit should become a part of your entire grocery shop or your accuracy is affected. Maybe the hardware is where you may have gone to buy bulk cleaning materials or even the Warehouse.

About $150. Two adults. Usually $80-100 at the grocery store once a week, and the rest at other places - coffees, occasional bought dinners or lunches, vege store etc.

Fark, what I wouldn't give to have $50 a week to spend at the supermarket and butchers, let alone a hundy! ! ! ! Just me here and I have become very resourceful. Nothing wasted, accept any freebies that come my way and dinner invitations, make everything from scratch, not coffes or food outings unless it's a picnic. Watch specials and learned fast what time of the day the supermarkets have their meat reduced for quick sale.

thats ok, not rude at all. I buy only meat on special and veges on special, but not extravagant amouts, ie. one cauliflower for the week and one broccoli, We have at least two nights where we have Tuna on toast or Eggs on toast, I don't buy any musali bars or rubbish for school lunches, I bake, muffins or slice or I have a biscuit recipe that makes 180-200 app. I buy budget bread and freeze it and I buy milk and freeze it too. Every 4-6 weeks I may have a shop where I spend $200 but otherwise I manage to stick to the $150 per week. . Its hard, the kids moan as there is no READY food, but we make popcorn, or picklets, or jelly. Its about being organised. Husband takes sandwiches to work, generally left over meat from dinner or salad, and the kids and I take egg sandwiches or marmite or I take soup and crackers. The kids and I have Mcdonalds Ice creams once a week after school before gymnastics otherwise I spend no extra money on food, If I have had extra kids at home over the weekend occassionally I need to get bread and milk from the warehouse, but thats not an every week thing... .
I deleted my above message to re write it. . sorry
