They are hanging full of babies.

And from next week on I will pick them, halve them and sautee them in butter with onions and garlic and parsley :)

The kunes will have to wait till mid-winter and eat what I leave for them LOL :)

I haven't been able to eat them since I was a child and my mother served them boiled and naked except for salt and pepper.I believe there are nice Mexican ways of stuffing them with queso blanco and chilli, but I can't bring myself to try.

yes, but now you can put BUTTER on them, along with onion, salt and pepper,you should manage them.davidt4. Roasted mmmmm, darn it if the frosts are early I will loose them, I may buy a frost cloth to be prepared.

Oh I remember chokos as a kid with onion, butter and s&p.yum.dont think we can grow them down here!

Darn, I may have to go look at the plant down the road and see what its up to. I hope there is one hanging ova the fence, I don't want to cart a ladder down the road, so I can reach the other side.lol.

Simply yummy. They are similar to courgettes, but firmer. Nice roasted, steamed with onions and bathed in butter, salt and pepper.

I LOVE chokos but done with a really good cheese sauce! and lots of pepper!

mine are very behind this year, so sad if I dont get any fruit as they are the non prickly ones. no fruit when I looked the other day :(

mmm mine are to, way behind. Nothing showing yet but the signs are there for IT to flower, the plant is nice and green , I talk to it tie the runners away from harms way, water and feed it. I will be putting a frost cloth over it later, this it knows. ANOTHER RED PLEASE, though I feel its gin.

Simply and not much different from how your Mum did sorry :) Just steam then a bit of butter, salt and pepper.

We use them in stir-fry's in place of tinned water chestnuts. Crunchy and delicious!

I remember my mum boiling them and serving them up with either a white or cheese sauce. I always liked them.

Hmm thats a good idea! I love water chesnuts too - so do you just chop them up raw and stirfry quickly as you would the other veges so they retain their crunch!

Uli yes I did every or everyother day. now they are starting to take off, but of course with the colder nights we had a near frost would you believe 2nights ago and the tips are now looking frost toasted. Just want one to take me thro for next year

Matamata is not that far south that you should have frosts already!
Our lowest temps at night are still 17 degrees - days are 27! Hard to sleep.
