Been a huge revolt from family friends and customers down here against Cadbury, Whitakers is apparantly creaming it from all this bad exposure for Cadbury at the Mo. Greedy buggers, hope they go broke! Im not buying a block till they bring back the old sizing. The New cardboard packaging will always Carry that stigma of when they tried to Rip the customers off as far as im concerned. I saw on Target last week they did a study on the new Chocolate, Cadbury told them that there inital public research showed most people liked the new flavour better or didnt notice the change, So Target took this to the street under a blind taste test and 9/10 people liked the old higher Cocoa butter stuff better, and 1 couldnt tell! upyours Cadbury :>

Saw that oily apologist for Cadburys on the news claiming that they tried to replicate the original Minties when they shifted the manufacture to the offshore slave labour factory but couldn't and also that many customers had been in touch to tell them they liked the new versions much better, mind you they tried to say that (about many customers contacting to say they preferred... . ) about the Chocolate and nobody much bought that lie either.

Im going to do my best to boycott Cadburys now at all costs, as per usual 'bums on seats' keep making the most horrendus business decisions... ...

"... Italy's Ferrero and US-based Hershey are reviewing options over a possible bid for Cadbury, but analysts and investors still see hostile bidder Kraft's $US16. 2 billion offer as the front runner.
Hershey and family-owned Ferrero both said separately they were evaluating their options, and both said there could be no assurance that a proposal or offer for the British confectioner would emerge... . "
Less competition! And no need to carry on making Cadbury's stuff anyway, as nobody buys it now.

The problem is too many now Overseas owned etc etc... . e. g. Watties another.
Or too many goods are now manufactured overseas...
Very few remaining purely just NZ owned and made, more so with the bigger fish... .
Wonder when Fonterra could be though ? ? ? ? Maybe the next one ! ! !

Cadbury confirmed yesterday that it was making sweeping changes to its manufacturing operations and that many of its iconic products would soon be made overseas. It has already begun manufacturing Minties, Fruit Chews and Milk Shakes from its new factory in Thailand, and last year announced that manufacturing of all of its Dairy Milk chocolate bars was moving to Tasmania... . ... New Zealand's biggest sweet-maker also shifts production of Moro bars, Eskimo lollies and Jet Planes across the Tasman... . ... Under the plans announced yesterday its Dunedin factory will become a specialist manufacturing facility producing Jaffas, Pineapple Lumps, chocolate fish, Pinky bars, boxed chocolates and chocolate crumb, the base ingredient in Cadbury milk chocolate. The manufacture of all other Cadbury products will be shifted overseas, mainly to Australia and Thailand. Cadbury Creme Eggs, previously made in Dunedin, will be manufactured in the UK... .

I would like to say a very big thank you to Cadbury's for the favour they have done my overall state of health. Their chocolate and baking products are now so downright horrible I have resolved to buy only Whittakers Dark Ghana, which is very similar in flavour to Valrhonafor baking and good quality Belgian chocolates for gifts and special occasions. As these are more expensive than the Cadburys products I used to buy in the days when their chocolate actually tasted like chocolate, Ihave to buy them less often. I firmly believe in quality not quantity so they have also done my bank balance a favour. Thank you Cadbury's and goodbye forever !

There are absolutely heaps of NZ Companies now making chocolates. They are all using Coveture chocolate as opposed to compound (buttons for melting - has vege fat instead of cocoa butter). Most of them have e-websites that you can buy off and a good proportion of them have a retail shop attached to their factories. Donovans in the supermarket are Hamilton based and made on site. Just support NZ Made and keep Kiwi's in jobs.

Cadbury was on TV One Close Up re their creamy gooey eggs... . now coming from UK I think (Uli just confirmed this in her post before this post) but not quite the same as NZ made... . . But the big thing I got from tonight's comments was that TM MSB was briefly noted in Close up along with facebook at public's response in the past of Cadbury... . HMMMMM
Anyone else saw this.

Back when I arrived in NZ over 10 years ago Cadbury choco was delicious. But over 6 years ago we stopped buying Cadbury's and shifted to Whittaker's completely. Cadbury is just yuck now. I guess I'll miss those Minties as well. :(
IMO I think it's better buying chocolate that's slightly expensive and getting the most out of it than something as cheap as Cadbury's and getting chocolate that tastes like crap and leaves an unpleasent sour after taste. D8<

Remember the milk scandal last year?
Remember that baby formula in NZ is now rationed in supermarkets - because NZ resident Chinese are buying up large and selling baby formula to China via internet - so parents know there is no melamine in it?
Remember to chew slowly and happily on your "throaties" ...

Is THAT why I see the signs on baby formula at pak n save? ? ? ?
Thanks for clearing up that puzzle for me!

I don't like chocolate ... but I still won't buy cadburys - ever again. It's usually either Whittakers or European chocky now and for special occasions I buy Rosy Glow Chocolates - luxurious chocolates handmade in Collingwood, Golden Bay.
