Have you tasted the new minties? May as well suck on flour paste. My kids and sons-in-law and I settled down to a nice blockbuster/explosions movie with a packet of minties, but only ate one each. The rest went in the rubbish.
And does anyone agree with me that the chocolate hasn't reverted to the old recipe? It has a distinct taste of drainwater, in my opinion.
But let's face it, I'm better off not eating rubbish, so I guess they're doing me a huge favour!

cadbury don't make lollies, griffins used to but cadburys haven't made lollies for at least 15years

I saw an article in the newspaper about it. Funny, I bought a packet of Minties yesterday. I haven't opened them yet! Not looking forward to the taste. Cadbury's make the Pascall range of lollies!
Yes, the minites are gross. No flavour at all. The texture is still ok, but what the heck on the taste.
The chocolate is still pretty disgusting... .
It is a good way to stop us eating "junk" food I guess... .

Has anyone tried their "Roses" or any of their other such boxed chocolates lately... .
Normally I try to do my own varieties but sometimes an ocassion arises when one needs to resort to such thing... .
Oh, I do try to get something small in the specialty range of other brand names but it has been quite a long time since one has bought anything "Cadbury" ! ! ! ! ! !
So any thoughts if these have also altered.
Cheers.

Are you saying valentino that you are not game enough to go and buy some to try? LOL :)

Perhaps a little, it has been quite a while since one did buy Cadbury's and sounds as though they have deteriorated further, so is it worth the gamble in satisfying their pockets... . not with my pocket anyway unless someone notes that these box choccys are still like the old ones...
And uli, how about yourself, take it that you have not bought them either for some time... if you are like me, why put oneself at risk when perhaps someone else can confirm... .
Last year, a friend was given some very nice chocs in a plain white box with a wee ribbon around it, they were far superior even to the better ones that Cadbury ever produced... . and noted that these are readily available but of course, a little more in price but quality is guarenteed.
Cheers.

Roses have been 'different' for about 2 years now, they moved off shore before the blocks did. None of the old fav flavs and they are smaller (good thing) different shaped and grainy (the ones with the 'creme' fillings) over all very yucky . . but then most chocolate is lol.

Thank you maxwell. inc.
Yeah it has been longer than that since I've last tried any "Roses".
Makes one think now about those "After Dinner Mints" as well, likewise, similar scenario... .
Sounds as though they have mucked around in total, their entire range over recent times.
I think I will stay with what one does and also what others one can get... . not worthy of my time to look at Cadbury.
Cheers.

I normally stick to the Belgium chocs if giving as a gift, for the simple reason that every man and his dog gives roses or those hideous cadbury favorites things... the nicer Belgium chocs are received with a bigger smile than the cheap counter parts.

valentino - I have never bought them. Got some given as a gift once and didn't like them - gave them to next person coming visiting (after asking if they ate such stuff) and they scoffed them.
I buy the seashells or ferrero rocher or something similar a gifts if I think I need to give choccies :)

Yes to both posts above... .
Belgium and ferrero rocher plus a couple of others...
Don't laugh but even the warehouse has some far better chocs than Cadbury, so Cadbury has really well and truly gone down the gurgler... .
My friend get the "toberone", the big ones (imported Swiss stock) from the duty free stores whenever they go overseas, I quite like these as well.
Also the "Mozart" chocs from Austria, ever get your hands on these, treassure them, they are lovely.
Cheers all.
Cheers.

Yes Toblerone and all the Lindt and Suchard choccies are a far cry from the Cadbury concoctions LOL They might find out soon too :)

When I read the above article this morning my thoughts went something like this well here is a company that wants to send itself down the path of no return. Most business's want to make a healthy profit here is a business that wants exit the market! ! ! . I used to buy mostly Cadbury products now there is not one single Cadbury product in my pantry and hasn't been for some time. Im sure I am not the only one.

I won some Belgian Chocs in a Raffle which were lovely. They were made by a manufacturer I had not heard of and I saw them again some weeks later in ... ... .
The Warehouse!

Hmmm, wondering but looks as though this minties thing could be on TV one news soon... .
Could be wrong but will see...

Yes the warehouse is the source of most of my choccies now (the few that I still eat) because they do all the parallel imports and so we get all the lovely European choccies from the Warehouse. This time of year they have seashells and ferrero rocher and after Xmas they usually get discounted :)

You mean you rung them - or sent them this link? :)
valentino,
Nov 17, 5:07pm
No, TV one gave their usual sneak preview... . .
A few noted the difference but that company person is ! ! ! ! ! ! ... hmmmm, so adamant that nothing has changed... .
Oh yeah, now made in Thailand, (nothing against Thailand) surely lost that special NZ tasting test...
Uli, you could send them this link, could be interesting.
Cheers.

And those big or large firm plastic sort of dishes looking packaging contains some nice ones, just cannot think of their brand name nor the name of these ball shape chocs in them.
Last year a Bulgarian lady bought about $90 worth and just finished the last of them last month. Yep someone loves them.
Cheers.

After reading this thread I found out 2/3 of my minties bags are made in thailand! And the thai ones has 10kj more calories per 100g! ! OMG!

Anyway, speaking of chocolates. . I think the ones from De Spa are pretty decent
http://www.despa.co.nz/
For something to be called chocolate, it needs a minimum of 20% cocoa solids. You find the better quality chocolates usually have a higher percentage of cocoa solids. Cadbury always sticks to the minimum 20%.
