even my husband does this one.His turns out better than mine so it has always been his job.
3 large onions sliced 1 Tb oil 1-1 ½ kg topside beef 2 Tb flour 1 tsp salt ¼ tsp pepper ¼ tsp thyme 2 cups water 1 Tb beef stock powder 2 Tb vinegar or wine 1 Tb Worcestershire sauce
Brown onions slowly in oil in a large heavy bottomed pan. Add meat and turn to seal in juices. Leave on fattiest side down. Mix flour and dry ingred. Sprinkle over meat Add water stock, vinegar,W/sauce Cover tightly Simmer over very low heat till meat tender. 2-3hrs depending on meat size Serve with mashed potato, beans/peas and carrots.
