Can't Remember Name of this Site

There was a link to the website of a young woman on one of these threads in the last few weeks. It was a great site and i thought i wouldn't forget her name!!!She had all sorts of interesting recipes listed. Not sure if she was a chef or just a foodie.Anyone know who this might have been - I know I'm a bit short on info, but thought I would ask.

It's a great site but Fisher may be surprised to find he's a young woman!

Exactly greerg, Fisher's website IS a great site but I don't believe that John is a woman.

macwood2, are either of these the website that you are wanting?

yes elliehen, I thought so too initially (see #4) but then I recall seeing the other links (also above at #4 and at #7) - it will be interesting to see which is actually THE one wanted by macwood2.

I checked out that site and all I can say is she really is a bit mad lol

The schnitzel looked like a loaf of burnt bread but then I am sure her family love her.

I also like Fisher's site lots of good stuff there and easy to navigate around well done you.

rosathemad, Feb 2, 10:17pm
The madness goes without saying! ;-) But my schnitzel was only an early attempt (if you read the post you'll see it was the second time I've made it, certainly I know it is far from perfect - am always open to tips!) but was still pretty delicious - and now you know why I am Mrs Cake and not Mrs Schnitzel. ;-)

beaker59, Feb 2, 11:22pm
Indeed I do see Mrs Cake :) so why did you give up the Vegetarian bit though recently I have met several reformed vege's the rest seem to have gone Vegan.

uli, Feb 2, 11:26pm
My tip would be to use lots of FAT to fry it in. The looks you have achieved shows there was not enough fat in the pan to fry it - hence the brown spots.
So I would use less crumbs and more fat - and you could produce a real Wiener Schnitzel to be proud of - and of course you need lots of lemon wedges to squeeze over the ready to eat Schnitzel too.

I have met 3 reformed vegans in the pool last week - just one after the other - it was quite spooky actually.
One started dreaming of roast chickens and would wake up in the middle of the night with the smell in her nostrils salivating. Unfortunately I had to LOL :)

beaker59, for me the tipping point was health - I had major issues with soy, which cut out a lot of other food, and I also had consistently low iron for about the last year before I finally conceded it wasn't working for me. :-)

Uli, thanks! I guess that's where I went wrong - we try to be healthy, and Mr Cake in particular probably wouldn't have liked it so much with heaps of fat (someone commented on my blog to suggest baking it, which might not be authentic but could be good). Lemon sounds tasty!

Thanks for that Rose I guess everyones different many thrive on a good Vege diet but a few don't and take your route.

Making good Wiener Schnitzel the way I do it which is quite succesful and not so bready. Lay the piece of shnitzel on a sturdy wooden cutting board then using the back of your chefs knife (thats the wide non cutting edge mine is 3mm) gently so as not to cut through tap the meat to lay down a close crisscross pattern all over it turn the meat over and repeat cover the whole piece at least once when all pieces are done place in a bowl for enough for my family of 3 I use one egg beaten well with a generous amount of salt and soak the meat in the egg well for 15min at least turning occasionally the meat will absorb virtually all the egg. Then dip in fine breadcrumbs (no flour) pressing well then onto a plate allow that to rest well then fry in a 50/50 mix of butter and cooking oil until golden brown don't overcook. Nice with my home made relish.

For more info on soy (if you still need more info):

"...These findings suggest that cardiovascular disease and depression may share some common nutritional determinants related to subtypes of fat intake...."

Thanks uli - I definitely don't need any encouragement to eat fat. ;-) But always good to do your research. I did do a great deal of research on soy - it was only an issue for me for a year or so, and then I discovered by accident that my body wasn't rejecting it anymore - but I do tend to steer clear for the most part.
